850°C Coconut Ash Handling
850 °C ash carbonised the bearing grease and distorted standard rotors; a water-cooled body with a heat-isolated end cover holds the bearing below 90 °C.

The challenge
Ash leaving the kiln reached the valve at up to 850 °C. Standard end covers conducted the heat into the bearing, the grease carbonised within days and the rotor distorted until the tip rubbed. The first supplier's valve was replaced three times in a year.
What we did
A water-cooled CVC body with a cooling jacket around the pocket and a heat-isolated end cover, so the bearing stays below 90 °C while the product path runs at 850 °C. High-temperature graphite packing replaces the standard lip seal, and a leakage gas collector keeps the end cover purged.
Result
The body has run at the kiln discharge since commissioning with the bearing housing holding below 90 °C, and the seals are changed at the annual shutdown. Spare rotors are held at the plant for a same-week swap.
