Pain points
-
Dust ingress into the bearing
Fine dust migrates along the shaft and the bearing housing seizes within weeks. A double lip seal with a grease purge keeps the bearing cavity at positive pressure against the body.
-
Arching over the rotor
Collected dust is aerated and cohesive, so it arches above the inlet and then collapses in slugs. An inlet opening of 1.5 x pocket length on a full-pocket drop-through body moves it as a column.
-
Ignition risk in fine combustible dust
A dry-running rotor in fine dust is a spark path. Earthing studs on body and end cover plus a bronze-tipped rotor on request avoid metal-to-metal rubbing in the pocket.
Valves for this position
Standard drop-through airlock for gravity discharge and vacuum feeding.
Ceramic liner or tungsten carbide coating for abrasive powders.
